It is almost time to look at year end functions again and if it is your job to organise your company’s yearend function – I am sure you need some free event decorating tutorials and tips! Most of the time if you type in free event decorating tips it will give you a lot of substandard ideas or it will even take you to site that will give you wonderful ideas on how to decorate your living room. I find it so frustrating if that happens.

Let’s start on a few tips for your #eventdecor. Get out your pen and paper and start making notes for your event decor.



What is the reason for the event?
First of all you need to decide what the reason is for your function. Is it for a year end function, is it for a product launch, is it for an awards ceremony or is it just a chilled get together for the staff.



Venue
Secondly it is important to get the right venue for your function. When you have the right venue make through row note on the venue. Try and draw a rough sketch of the venue. Include where the doors are, where the lights are and where there are ugly areas that you want to hide. If your function is outside – make sure that you have a plan B if the weather is bad. Make sure you make notes on plug points, electricity, water supplies etc.

Budget
What is your budget for this event? Can you hire what you need or would you need to work on a low budget? Making most of the décor yourself? What if a venue is so ugly and you don’t have the budget on making it more pretty… what would the easiest way be on hiding some of the imperfections? 

·         First of all try to dim the lights or use free standing lights at the walls

·         Make use of as much as possible low lighting methods like candles

·         If you can’t do all the walls at least try and do the focus wall with draping – by that I mean the area where the speeches is going to be or where the awards is going to be presented.

Centerpiece course - Why do I need to do a Centerpiece course?

We can not believe that it is already April 2017. We are so busy with training this year that we don't even see the days go by. We are so excited about this year! Not only are we traveling to Nairobi in May but we have several practical courses all over South Africa to choose from. 

A little bit more on our Centre Piece course that is coming up.

Some of you may want to know why do you need to attend a Centre Piece course if you have already done a Flower Arranging course? Or you even sit and wonder which course will be best for you to do... a centerpiece course or a floral arrangement course. A few pieces of advice...

What is a centerpiece?

Definition of centerpiece
  1. 1:  an object occupying a central position; especially:  an adornment in the center of a table


The difference between the Flower arranging and centerpiece courses are major.
·         Although you learn the basics skills of flower arranging in both the courses our focus in the course is to make interesting centerpieces for a function.
·         We teach you how to advise the clients on a centerpiece and what flowers will work for a centerpiece
·         We teach you how to make sure that you keep up to date with new trends in Events styling and centerpieces
·         We teach you what different things to keep in consideration when choosing centerpieces i.e.
·         Budget
·         Venue restrictions
·         Table shape
·         Table size and capacity
·         Number of tables
·         Size and height of centerpieces
·         Lighting
·         Environment – heat, cold etc
·         Guests allergies etc



There are a lot of factors that go into picking the right centerpieces for your event, but you can still have fun with color and variety. We will teach you to think out of the box and create a magical table centerpiece for your client



We focus a lot on how to make a lovely centerpiece with a huge and small budget




We will teach you how to create interesting themed centerpieces with something as simple as using a pumpkin, feathers, rocks, marshmallows etc.
