Time for Olympics 2012
I received this morning this amazing newsletter from one of the guru’s in the events industry—Preston Bailey. I just felt that I want to share it with you all.
Friday is the start of the 2012 Olympic Games. Each and every athlete is in London to win a gold medal—but at the end of the day - if they come home with a bronze but they know that they’ve done their personal best - In my eyes they are a winner!
What does it mean to be your very best?
Does it mean that you look for solutions instead of complaining about obstacles? Does it mean you choose to show compassion instead of tossing out another criticism? Is it training to find the balance between hard work and rest?
There is a winner in all of us. There are always opportunities to rise up to a challenge and to seize your moment. Remember that we are a team. There is no "them". The only competition we face is ourselves.
We must focus outdoing what we have done before.
Let us inspire our peers while being inspired by their unique gifts. Let us give our clients the best work by giving ourselves the freedom to learn, the flexibility to change and the dedication to giving your all, every day.
Allow yourself to rest. Push yourself through challenges. Face down fear and stand up to self doubt.
You've already won.

Tips for a Vintage Wedding
• Before you begin, pick an era and then design the wedding accordingly
• Vintage is a concept of old mixed with new – so don’t feel you need to buy an array of new things that “look old.”
• Have a look at 2nd hand or charity shops for old pieces or accessories that you can use. Be it retro furniture or art deco-inspired wall paper – you will find some bargains.
• Pay attention to detail - like a string of pearl on an old book
• Remember – if you decide on a theme – everything must fit into the theme. From music to the décor!

2011 Wedding trends
"This dark poetry palettes with deep black, slate gray, inky blue and deep purple completed by flaming garnet, blushing pink and hallucinogenic green. Flashes of copper and gold. Sumptuous materials are deteriorated to evoke the wear of time. Accent on natural mixing 'patched' effect. Some ultra feminine materials: dobby silks, quivering acetate etc. New parade jackets, Rock spirit, Patchwork grunge.
Nocturnal, muffled colors from night blue, cold brown and Cyprus green all the way to grayed parma and intenser touch of oxblood. Base colour remain in the somber register of deep blue, almost black. Emphasis on sophisticated, warm, light, soft-touch fabris like wool and cashmere blends or brushed and sanded suitings. Matt or slightly shiny looks for synthetics. Knits are thin and generous. Wool shawl-collared, dark and strange prints, product focus on bloomer and punk style jacket. " French Trend Agency - NellyRodi.
That is a lot to swallow - as a wedding planner - how do you interpreted such a trend. We've give you some advice. Think about blue/purple hydrangeas, Purple Callas lillies, Silver table cloths, black lace overlays. Think a combination of vintage and new. Think about something old, something new, something borrowed, something.... You make the choice.
